So, I’m trying to work on this latch hook rug kit, but a certain cat has other plans for the box the craft kit came in.

I seriously must be an old woman in a 23 year olds body. I’m happy right now simply because I have 1. A blanket on my lap 2. A cat on my lap 3. Some stitching going on.
It’s also nice to start on something NOT Christmas related. [side note- I thought needlepoint was basically cross stitch with yarn, but there’s a bigger difference than I thought…so that will be fun to work on something new as well.]
Aaaand it just got doubly-awesome with the addition of cat #2 and a glass of wine from Morgan. 🙂 (“I can’t get up, theres a cat on my lap!” really works well in our house.)
My current “To Do” list:
- Sew and stuff a stuffed log for my Halloween costume. (The Twin Peaks log lady). I don’t want to carry around a heavy real log so I got felt and fiberfill and will just make my own psychic log.
- Applique and embroider 2 Christmas stockings.
- Knit fingerless gloves for the BF (his request…may require some cable knitting which worries me a bit).
- Finish knitting my scarf (still only about 2/3 done ugh).
- Embroider Christmas ornaments…about 5-10.
Luckily it is already becoming very cold so I have an excuse to just stay curled up in the house sipping Trader Joe’s apple cider curled up in an afghan and not answering my phone so I can get all of this done.
I don’t tend to have a ton of UFOs (unfinished objects)/WIPs (works in progress) around, but when I do give up, it is right at the end of a project. This one cross stitch I’ve been working on is definitely at the frustration point. I’ve been working on it for so long, completing a little each day. Now I’m almost to the end and having to force myself to finish rather than start another craft project. I have been wanting to start one of my tiny embroidery kits just because they are so small, and will give instant gratification, but then I know I would never finish this one. Almost there! I find the end of a project to be almost stressful, and this is one piece I am definitely ready to be done with.
It is especially hard to finish with a cat on my lap.
I’ve mentioned before how much I LOVE S.C.R.A.P. It is the absolute best craft supply store/non-profit. I was driving past today and couldn’t resist popping in for a quick look. I headed straight to my favorite bin, where you can get full embroidery kits for less than a dollar. I ended up picking up two items, totaling only 50 cents!
I picked up a tiny little embroidery kit which includes everything, even the kitschy mini wire hanger to display the final project on. It said 50 cents but I got it for only a quarter! My favorite items to get from S.C.R.A.P. are all their kitchen/gardening/cooking embroidery kits. One day I hope to display them all on a huge wall of kitsch above my kitchen table. The second item I picked up is a cool mounting board for finished embroideries or any other type of fabric art. Just what I need to display one of my already finished kitchen embroidery pieces! I love that I picked up these two cute things for only a measly 50 cents.
